After, Miss Molly showed that the Great Dane was the breed for them, the search for a new addition began. They knew they would take their time to find the right parents to bring their boy into the world... and yes they already decided on adding a boy. Through the club CA.D.D, they became enamored with both Star and Roku of Sixstar Danes. Both dogs have the sweetest temperaments and healthy backgrounds. Then getting to know John and Rachel, one could see how much they loved their dogs. They spent time training, doing activities and carefully research when choosing both Star and Roku. The obvious choice was easy. This was the line and kennel to get the new little one from.
Patiently waiting a year, gave them the chance to getting to know thedogs even better. They grew excited as the time grew near. Following Star's pregnancy closely it was so exciting when Rachel called with the detailsof the births. On April 27th, 2001, she caught the whole thing one video. When three weeks of age, Lisa came to met me, her new boy, for thfirst time.... Named Odyssey at the time. When hearing the story of my birth, how my poor momma was in labor 4 hours when the contractions slowed, so she was let out for a stretch and walk in hopes to get them goingstrong again. Well, on her way back inside... ~POP~ out comes the last little puppy to be born... me! At 1:31pm, just inside the doorway. That is how "DJ" came to be my name ~grinz~ it stands for "Door Jamb" . It also happens to be the nickname of Lisa's favorite NASCAR driver... Dale Jarrett.

It was great to see her week after week, getting to know her scent. Then came the time to go to my new home. June 26th, I left to meet my new big sister Miss Molly. I was a little sad the first week.. She did not even look at me! Then the next week, she looked down her muzzle at me. I think my great smile finally won her over. Now we are best of friends... and even at times she is a bit protective of me. I am learning how to become a show dog. August 25th '01 was my first Puppy Match. I placed 4th and the judge commented... "I think he has a bit to much white to be shown as a black." Well, duh! I am a mantle! Although pet marked. Then on the 26th, I went to my first International show and placed 2nd. I received my first SG-1 rating, only 2 more to go and I can get my Baby championship! I'll keep ya posted to let ya know how that goes. I am also doing a little bit of agility with my big sis, Miss Molly. I just love the tunnels and chute, though not jumping for a year or so.
Wow how time flies.. A whole month later and look at me.. A baby Champion!! I have done well with the I.A.B.C.A. Show circuit and plan on having fun with it for a while. I hope to continue with the agility.. It is sooo much fun. One of my favorites is the dog walk and A-frame. At this time still no jumps allowed.. But I can walk over them when set at the lowest position.. Piece of cake! I am now fully settled in my new homes and rule the roost.. Well.. When Miss Molly lets me that is.. I am growing fast and can't wait to see what the world holds for me!
I've been doing some showing with my mom, Lisa, at the I.A.B.C.A. and have earned several more titles. So now I have my Internat'l/Nat'l Baby Championship, Internat'l/Nat'l Puppy Championship and Nat'l Adult Championship. Turns out I rather be lounging about on the couch then showing. Just so much more fun! Though now and then I enjoy a fun match to strut my stuff. I like the off the beaten path kinda shows over confirmation.
